Traveling in New Jersey can be risky, especially in winter. One never knows when inclement road conditions or a negligent driver will cause a collision. Fatal personal injury is a common result of such incidents, as was the case in a recent crash involving multiple vehicles.

Preliminary investigations showed that one car had veered into an opposing lane of traffic moments before the crash occurred. A 25-year-old woman was reportedly traveling in a southwest lane when her car crossed over the dividing line and collided head-on with another vehicle. The impact caused the car that was hit to roll over a nearby embankment.

The first car also went into a roll and struck a third vehicle. Thankfully, the two occupants of that vehicle were not injured in the collision. The woman in the first car was flown to a nearby hospital for emergency care but did not survive her injuries. A 36-year-old woman who was driving the first car that was hit was also transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Numerous rescue departments responded to the scene. A police officer used a fire extinguisher to battle flames erupting from one of the cars.  Those who suffer critical personal injury in such cases are often afflicted with permanent disabilities. It is not uncommon for the causes of such accidents to be traced to driver negligence, such as intoxication or using a hand-held electronic device while driving. Recovering victims may pursue justice by filing claims in a New Jersey civil court to request compensation for monetary damages.
