$1.4 million settlement in New Jersey personal injury claim

Posted by Saul Steinberg | Aug 09, 2017 | 0 Comments

Life can change in an instant. One minute, a promising New Jersey student is driving along the road; the next minute that same student is involved in a car accident that alters that promising future. Depending upon what happened and who is at fault for the accident, this student may have a personal injury claim against the other driver.

In 2011, a New Jersey student in residency at a local hospital was hit from behind by another driver. At the time, the other driver was delivering pizzas for Domino's Pizza. In her suit, the student claimed that she was injured to such an extent that she could not complete her surgical residency. As a result, her income potential was greatly reduced.

Domino's Pizza is known for delivering pizzas in a timely manner. In this case, the driver who caused the accident was on the job at the time of the accident. This means that both he and his employer may be held liable for this life-changing accident. The injured driver included the Domino's Pizza franchise in her personal injury suit. Rather than take the matter through the New Jersey court system, the parties have recently settled for $1.4 million.

Accidents are a daily occurrence throughout New Jersey. Most are minor inconveniences with little to no damage to person or property. However, some have life-altering consequences. When this happens, and the accident is the fault of the other driver, it is possible that a personal injury claim can be pursued through the New Jersey legal system. Experienced legal counsel can review the situation and provide guidance as to the best way to proceed.
