Immigration advocates say man is happy to have been released

New Jersey is home to many immigrants who fled countries of origin due to imminent danger. Many people in other states, as well, can relate to high levels of stress often associated with seeking asylum at a U.S. border. In such cases, immigration advocates, experienced attorneys and others can provide strong support to those who are seeking asylum or other adjustments of status.

A 29-year-old man in another state is reportedly feeling happy this week after being released from detention. He had been required to wear an ankle monitor but that has since been removed. The man arrived at a U.S. border seeking asylum. Tens of thousands of people cross U.S. borders in similar situations every year; many will be allowed to stay and others will be forced to return to their countries of origin.

The man in this case told U.S. immigration officers that he fled his country of origin after being tortured and held captive in a life of kidnapping and trafficking. Many people recently gathered round the man in support as he arrived at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office for a required check-in. He will have to pay another visit there again in six months.

In the meantime, those speaking on his behalf say he plans on getting a job and enjoying a new lease on life in America. Relying on a strong advocate network is often a key factor toward avoiding or overcoming immigration problems. Any New Jersey resident currently facing asylum or other status adjustment challenges may wish to schedule a meeting with an experienced immigration law attorney for support.
