Fatal personal injury in a recent New Jersey collision

When the topic is vehicle sustainability upon sudden impact in a collision, a Toyota would likely be no match for a tractor-trailer. Such massive rigs have been involved with smaller vehicles in many collisions in New Jersey and other states, often resulting in catastrophic or fatal personal injury. Sadly, the latter was the case in an incident that took place on a recent Tuesday.

It was just before noon when a sudden crash occurred on Interstate 78. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. As is often the case in a fatal accident, investigators are now trying to piece together all the clues regarding the events that led to the crash.

Any number of issues can be causal factors in a fatal crash. Most often cited are issues such as distracted driving, reckless driving behavior or other negligence, such as driver intoxication. All motorists are tasked with adhering to traffic laws and acting with caution behind the wheel. If a driver fails in his or her obligation and someone else suffers injury or death because of it, the driver can be held financially accountable for damages if a recovering victim or family member of a decedent files a claim in a civil court.

It is always a good idea to discuss one's intent to file a personal injury case with an experienced New Jersey attorney before heading to court. Reliance on skilled legal representation naturally increases one's chances for obtaining a satisfactory settlement or verdict. There is no replacement for the loss of human life; however, court-awarded compensation in successfully litigated cases often helps offset expenses associated with collisions.
