Movie star cries on Facebook about family law situation

Modern technology allows people in New Jersey and beyond to publicly express their opinions, implore others to help and otherwise espouse ideas in ways they were unable to do just one or two decades ago. For instance, Tyrese Gibson, one of the stars in the popular film "Fast and Furious," reportedly posted a seven-minute long video on Facebook regarding his current family law battle with his former spouse. The two have a 10-year-old daughter, and Gibson supposedly begs his former spouse not to take his daughter away in the recently posted video.

As is often the case in contentious situations like this one, one parent has accused the other of abuse. When such allegations are made, the court is obligated to further investigate the matter to determine whether evidence exists to confirm the accusations. Often, third party testimony is enlisted from medical professionals or licensed psychologists who have perhaps interviewed those involved or provided care for them in some way.

As it stands, Gibson's former wife claims her daughter told her that her father had beaten her so severely she was then unable to sit down due to her pain. Gibson has adamantly denied the abuse accusations, stating in his video that the child's mother has accused him of something he did not do. He also said he believes the woman's actions are borne from her hatred for him.

It can be challenging to get to the bottom of family law matters where one parent claims the other committed a crime. Police may become involved, especially if an arrest has been made or criminal charges filed against a parent. In Gibson's case, he is said to have openly wept is his video, pleading his daughter's mother to allow him to see his child again. An experienced New Jersey attorney is able to help anyone in this state facing similar allegations in a child custody dispute.
